Masterpiece. Ancient Greece 500 BC. Medusa Gorgon is making her way incognito along the side of a river in a region populated by large plane trees, wearing nothing but a dark blue and gold hooded velvet cloak. Four or five ancient Greek warriors appear and attempt to surround her. Medusa reacts, cloak swirling around, exposing her naked body as she turns, her bronze clawed hands pulling back the hood to reveal her terrible and magnificent face, hair made of dozens of living snakes, vipers, hissing, fangs exposed. Medusa is staring at the soldiers, her face contorted with rage, screaming, her deadly gaze fully concentrated on her enemies. We witness the scene at a pivotal point – some soldiers have been fully turned to stone, their faces contorted in horror, stored for all time as living statues, others are gradually becoming stone, limb by limb, pieces of the soldiers are petrifying under the gorgons gaze.
