Masterpiece. Ancient Greece 500 BC. Medusa Gorgon is making her way incognito along the side of a river in a region populated by large plane trees, wearing nothing but a dark blue and gold hooded velvet cloak. Four or five ancient Greek warriors appear and attempt to surround her.Medusa reacts, cloak swirling around, exposing her naked body as she turns, her bronze clawed hands pulling back the hood to reveal her terrible and magnificent face, hair made of dozens of living snakes, vipers, hissing, fangs exposed. Medusa's face is contorted with rage, screaming at the ancient crouching greek soldiers who have come to defile her, her deadly gaze sweeping across her enemies. We witness the scene at a nexus – some soldiers have been turned to stone, their faces contorted in horror, stored for all time as living statues, the remainder partially in the process of becoming stone, an arm a leg, a torso, pieces of the soldiers are petrifying under the gorgons gaze.
