It creates just enough distance that the reader receives it as transmission rather than instruction. Nobody wants to be told what to do. But a message from elsewhere — that you can hold up to the light. The alchemical glyph up top and then the plainness of everything that follows is a good tension. One foot in the symbolic, one foot firmly on the ground. Which is, again, the whole point. It's a piece that knows what it is. That's rarer than it sounds.
