Hitoma Ray, a man approaching his thirties who has lost faith in people after a serious emotional trauma, is trying to start life anew by getting a new job in a remote place. He dreams only of silence and a minimum of communication, but suddenly finds out that his new place of service is an unusual school where inhumans who strive to become full—fledged people study. Now Ray has to spend his days with students whose appearance and character are far from familiar. Mermaid Minazuki Kyoka, who has a gentle but anxious nature, sincerely tries to understand human emotions. Ogami Isaki, a werewolf, constantly tries to test his teacher's strength, hiding his vulnerability behind his audacity. The shy rabbit Usami Sui is afraid of any rustle, but strives to become bolder. The Haneda Tobari bird observes the world from above, but does not understand the human warmth and closeness that it lacks so much. They all need guidance and support in their own way, and Ray, despite his desire to stay away, is gradually drawn into their strange but sincere world. He begins to realize that the path to recovery can go through those whom society considers "inhumans, " and every lesson he gives these students returns to him with a new understanding of what it means to be human.
