The image is a vertical, full-body portrait taken at the base of a tall waterfall, with the frame dominated almost entirely by falling water and dark, wet rock. The waterfall pours from the top edge of the image down through the center, a broad, fast-moving sheet of white water that turns into a milky blur, its strands separating into thin, bright threads as the stream spreads across the stone. Behind and beside the falling water, the cliff face is rough and near-black in the shadows, broken into jagged slabs and crevices, with patches of rust-brown and tan stone showing on the upper right where the light hits. Moss and faint green growth cling to the upper rocks, and to the far right a narrow secondary trickle spills down the brown face. In the lower third of the frame, a woman stands barefoot on a large, rounded boulder that juts out at the bottom edge, its surface dark, pitted and slick with spray. She is centered slightly left of the falling water, and her pose is theatrical, almost dancer-like, her right arm is stretched straight up overhead with the hand open, while her left hand rests on her hip, elbow bent outward. Her head is tipped back and turned toward her raised arm, and her face is seen in a three-quarter profile, mouth slightly open as if mid-expression or mid-song. Long dark hair hangs loose and wet around her shoulders and down her back. She is a tan skinned 40 year old, fully nude, black curly hair tied into a bun, medium size breast, slightly saggy for age, large dark colored nipples, hairy trimmed pubic hair. Her skin is tan and glistening faintly, and the light is cool and soft, the waterfall throwing a dim, diffuse glow over her rather than direct sun. The composition is heavily vertical, the cascade's leading lines and the woman's raised arm both pull the eye upward through the frame, and the scale is set by the rock and the wall of water towering above her. The palette is restrained and cool — white water, charcoal rock, warm brown stone, cream fabric, tan skin — giving the image a moody, almost editorial adventure feel rather than a bright postcard look.
